The private seller offers for sale this 2007 Mercedes-Benz SL 63 AMG Misha Designs, powered by a 6.3-litre V8 engine, paired with an automatic transmission operated with steering wheel paddles. This cabriolet started life as an SL 63 AMG and was then converted by the well-known Californian workshop Misha Designs into the wide-bodied look of the SL 65 AMG Black Series. The result is a car that is hard to miss, finished in lacquered Nardo grey with satin black accents.
The Mercedes-Benz SL of the R230 generation was launched in 2001 and was the first SL to feature a folding metal hardtop, which turns the car from an open grand tourer into a coupe in a matter of seconds. The SL 63 AMG arrived with the 2006 facelift and brought the naturally aspirated 6.3-litre V8 from AMG’s own engine programme to the SL, a motor that is widely appreciated for its sound and its immediate throttle response. The SL 65 AMG Black Series, built in very small numbers, was the extreme version of the model with a twin-turbo V12, a wide carbon body and a fixed roof, and this car takes much of its visual drama from that model.
According to the seller, the engine has been tuned to around 550 hp and is combined with a stainless steel exhaust with a distinctive sound, active suspension and ventilated AMG bucket seats. Other features include the electrically retractable hardtop, the wind deflector, carbon trim on the doors, red steering wheel paddles and a wide front and rear bumper design with large air intakes. The most recent service took place 2000 km ago and, according to the seller, covered the ignition coils, injectors, spark plugs, tyres and batteries. Maintenance was carried out exclusively by Mercedes-Benz, and the car comes with a folder of service documents and the original AMG keys. It has been stored in a garage and is used only occasionally alongside other sports cars in the seller’s collection.
