The private seller offers for sale this 1964 Fiat 500 Jolly Spiaggina, powered by a 499 cc air-cooled two-cylinder engine, paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. This open beach car is finished in a bright Italian red, set off by whitewall tyres, chrome hubcaps and chrome bumpers. The cabin features the signature wicker seats, a natural sisal floor covering and perforated leather trim, while polished stainless steel tubular bars frame the open body. A cream steering wheel and painted dashboard complete the period look.
The car has been restored by a company specialising in classic cars. As part of that work, a new engine and a new gearbox have been fitted, and the engine has covered only around 10 km since. The car has most recently been used as a display vehicle. Please note that, according to the seller, the car cannot be sold to a buyer in France, as it has already been removed from the French vehicle register. Its doorless open body and wicker seats make it as much a design object as a car, equally at home on a seaside promenade, at a summer event or in a collection.
The Jolly story began in the late 1950s, when Carrozzeria Ghia in Turin created a series of open, doorless beach cars based on Fiat’s small rear-engined models. Designed for the yachts and villas of the Riviera, these “Spiaggina” or little beach cars quickly found favour with the international jet set, and owners included film stars, industrialists and royalty. Produced in small numbers and largely by hand, the Jolly has since become one of the most iconic and recognisable Italian classics of the Dolce Vita era.
The Fiat 500 base is perfect for the concept: light, compact and powered by the famous air-cooled twin, it is easy to drive and to maintain, and it gives the car its unmistakable cheerful sound.
