The seller offers for sale this 2003 BRA Leighton, powered by a 602cc 2-cylinder air-cooled petrol engine, paired with a manual transmission.
Finished in two-tone blue and silver, this BRA Leighton presents in good condition throughout. The body carries its original styling faithfully, with chrome details, open-wheel front suspension, and period-correct fittings. The blue upholstered cockpit features a wood-rimmed steering wheel carrying the Maserati trident badge, a full complement of Smiths-style gauges including temperature, fuel, and voltage readouts, a brass toggle switch panel, and a Brooklands-style aero screen. The vehicle has covered 8,300 miles from new and has been stored indoors throughout. It is located in County Dublin, Ireland. It carries a United Kingdom registration.
The BRA (British Racing Automobiles) Leighton was produced in very small numbers as a kit car inspired by the pre-war Morgan three-wheeler tradition. With its narrow body, exposed air-cooled twin-cylinder engine mounted ahead of the front axle, and single rear wheel, it captures the spirit of 1930s motorsport in a road-going package. The Leighton used a Citroën 2CV-derived drivetrain, making parts straightforward to source through Citroën’s parts network. Total production is believed to have been around 16 cars, with right-hand drive examples representing a small subset of that figure.
The dashboard carries a Maserati 4000 script badge, and the steering wheel hub features the Maserati trident, giving the car a distinctive period character. The front-mounted engine is fully exposed between the front wheels, with stainless steel exhaust headers visible, contributing to the pre-war racing aesthetic that defines the model.
