The private seller offers for sale this 1989 BMW K1, powered by a 987 cc inline-four engine. This K1 is finished in Laguna blue metallic and is offered as part of the seller’s decision to dissolve his motorcycle collection, which includes a second K1 in red.

The BMW K1, launched in 1988, is one of the most striking motorcycles ever to leave Munich. Its fully enclosed aerodynamic bodywork, designed with wind-tunnel testing in mind, gave the four-cylinder sports tourer a drag coefficient that was exceptional for the time, and the seller notes that at the time it was the fastest production motorcycle in the world. Beneath the fairing sits the four-valve version of BMW’s longitudinally mounted fuel-injected K-series engine, driving the rear wheel via a shaft and BMW’s Paralever rear suspension. The K1 was produced in relatively small numbers and is nowadays a sought-after collector’s item with its bold colour schemes and unmistakable look.

This example shows 27100 km on the odometer according to the seller’s details. The seller reports that it is not currently registered, that it comes with its original tank bag and luggage bags, and that the handlebar has been raised for a more comfortable riding position. According to the seller, a long list of items has been renewed: fuel pump, tank sender, spark plugs, oils, brake calipers and pads, tyres, steel braided brake hoses and ignition leads, with receipts available, and heated grips are fitted. With its low mileage and its distinctive looks, it is an appealing proposition for collectors of 1980s and 1990s motorcycle design.
