The seller offers for sale this 1986 Alfa Romeo 75 2.0 Carburettor, powered by a 2.0-litre Alfa Nord four-cylinder engine, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Finished in white over a light, largely original interior, this is the carburetted version of the 75, fed by a pair of twin-choke 40 mm Dell’Orto carburettors. The car comes with a documented recent history and has covered approximately 182,000 km.
According to the seller the car spent much of its life in storage and was acquired earlier this year from an enthusiast. A comprehensive programme of work has since been carried out: the engine has been serviced and checked over, the carburettors have been fully rebuilt, ultrasonically cleaned, fitted with new gaskets and tuned, and new bushings have been installed in the gear linkage for an improved shift. The inner wheel arches have been inspected and repaired, new front suspension bushings, a new windshield and new tyres have been fitted, and an exhaust manifold leak has been repaired. The car has been freshly inspected. The body shows no significant rust.
The Alfa Romeo 75 was launched in 1985 to mark the marque’s 75th anniversary, and it would prove to be the last rear-wheel-drive Alfa Romeo developed before the company passed to Fiat. Wedge-shaped and unmistakably Italian, the 75 carried the brand’s sporting saloon tradition with its rear-mounted transaxle gearbox and near-perfect weight distribution, qualities that made it a genuine driver’s car. The carburetted 2.0-litre Nord variant is particularly sought after today, as it was produced for only a short window and has become increasingly hard to find.
This example pairs that desirable specification with a recent mechanical refresh and an attractive, honest presentation, making it an appealing entry into the world of classic rear-drive Alfa Romeos.
