The private seller offers for sale this 1938 NSU 601, powered by a 600 cc single-cylinder engine. NSU was one of the great German motorcycle makers of the 1930s, and its large single-cylinder machines were built for solid, long-distance touring, often with a sidecar attached. The 601 belongs to this line of robust, no-nonsense motorcycles, with the compact, upright single-cylinder engine that characterises the period. A motorcycle and sidecar combination of this age is a rare sight and offers a very particular and authentic way of experiencing pre-war motoring.

This example is finished in black and comes with its original sidecar, which according to the seller was restored at the same time as the motorcycle. The seller states that the restoration was carried out following originality and that the combination is registered in the Finnish museum vehicle register. The odometer reads 26069 km. The photographs show the NSU tank badge, the round instrument with speedometer on the tank, the sprung saddle, the sidecar with its red upholstered seat and the Finnish museum registration papers.

A pre-war NSU with its matching sidecar is an interesting proposition for collectors of vintage motorcycles and for those who enjoy rallies and club events with period machinery.
