The private seller offers for sale this 1969 Alfa Romeo 1750 Berlina, powered by a 1.8-litre twin-cam four-cylinder engine, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Finished in an elegant beige over a tan interior, this intermediate-series car was built in the second half of 1969 and still carries its original Rome-issued number plates, a charming period detail that speaks to its long history. The cabin has been preserved in original form, with tan upholstery, the wood-rimmed steering wheel, wood-trimmed dashboard and centre console with its cluster of auxiliary gauges, and a period Stereo 8 cartridge player supplied together with a selection of cartridges.
The bodywork has been restored, starting from a sound base, and the engine has been rebuilt. The car also sits on new Yokohama tyres and has a valid roadworthiness inspection. With its quad headlights, chrome bumpers, Alfa Romeo scudetto grille and crisp, Bertone-styled lines, it presents as an attractive example of one of the most rewarding Italian saloons of its generation.
The 1750 Berlina was introduced in 1967 as the new flagship of the Alfa Romeo saloon range. Based on the floorpan of the celebrated Giulia, it offered a longer wheelbase, more interior space and a more refined, upmarket feel, while retaining the sporting DNA that has always set Alfa Romeo apart. The name was a deliberate nod to the legendary 6C 1750 of the late 1920s and early 1930s, one of the most successful racing and sports cars of its day. Bertone gave the car its crisp, well-proportioned shape, and the 1750 remained in production until it was succeeded by the 2000 Berlina in 1971.
Under the bonnet sits the famous all-alloy Alfa Romeo twin-cam engine, here in 1779 cc form and fed by twin carburettors, delivering lively performance and the distinctive sound that Alfa enthusiasts love. Combined with a slick 5-speed gearbox, four-wheel disc brakes and well-balanced handling, it makes the 1750 Berlina a true sports saloon, as comfortable on a long journey as it is entertaining on a winding road. Practical, characterful and increasingly sought after, it offers a rewarding way to enjoy classic Alfa Romeo motoring with room for the whole family.
