The vehicle was driven by the same owner from its new registration in 1959, until 1984. After the restoration in 2011, the car was put back into use. A vehicle identity certificate from the Volkswagen Treasury AutoMuseum Foundation confirms the original delivery condition, which the vehicle still remains in today. The original cardboard letter and certificate are, of course, preserved. As are the original owner’s manual and the first service booklet. The second owner from whom I acquired the vehicle is a prominent professional soccer player and later coach from the VfL Wolfsburg club, from which he had acquired the vehicle at the time.
The Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet, has long been celebrated for its charm, simplicity, and reliability. By 1959, the Beetle had already become a global icon, offering open-top driving pleasure combined with the practicality of the beloved VW design. The cabriolet version, built by Karmann, was more refined and offered an extra touch of elegance compared to the standard sedan. With its air-cooled flat-four engine, it provided dependable performance and an unmistakable driving character. This 1959 example represents an enduring classic that continues to win hearts with its timeless design and cultural significance.
This Volkswagen Beetle is in absolutely original condition and, in keeping with its age, has a very rare, well-preserved patina.
