The private seller offers for sale this 1949 Triumph 2000 Roadster, powered by a 1991 cc four-cylinder engine, paired with a 3-speed manual transmission. Finished in red with a cream interior and a polished wooden dashboard, this right-hand-drive roadster is a distinctive example of the post-war Triumph with its flowing wings, sidelamps on the wings and fold-out rear seat.

The Triumph Roadster was introduced in 1946 as one of the first models of the Triumph marque under the ownership of the Standard Motor Company. The first series used a 1.8-litre engine, and from 1949 the 2000 Roadster was fitted with the 1991 cc four-cylinder engine from the Standard Vanguard, which gave a smoother and stronger delivery. The seller notes that, because of the steel shortage in Britain after the war, the body was made from hand-formed aluminium panels on an ash frame. The gear lever is on the steering column, and the front bench seat takes up to three people.

The best-known feature is the dicky seat: opening the two rear lids reveals two additional seats in the open air, with their own small windscreen that folds up to protect the rear passengers, and the seller describes this as the last British production car to be built with such a seat. The windscreen is wide and low, and three wipers are fitted to clear it. This example has a red body with chrome bumpers, large chromed headlamps and chrome wheel trims. Inside, the seats are cream leather and the dashboard is polished wood with two large round dials and a speedometer. The engine bay shows a polished manifold and a tidy installation. A dark soft top is fitted.
