The professional seller offers for sale this 1974 Suzuki RL250, powered by a 250 cc single-cylinder two-stroke engine. The RL250 was Suzuki’s contribution to the trials boom of the early 1970s, a light, narrow and purpose-built machine with a high-level exhaust, a low seat, a slim fuel tank and a minimalist frame, designed for slow and precise riding over difficult terrain. Built in modest numbers, these early Suzuki trials bikes are among the more unusual machines of their era and are increasingly sought after by collectors of vintage trials and off-road motorcycles.
This example carries the period colour scheme of a silver tank with the Suzuki name in gold lettering, combined with orange side panels bearing the RL 250 badge and an orange rear mudguard. It runs on spoked wheels with narrow trials tyres and has a black, high-mounted exhaust and a plain black seat. The photos show the engine, the chain and rear sprocket, the shock absorbers, the frame stamp and both wheels up close. According to the seller the machine still has to be started up, and bidders should plan accordingly. It comes with Canadian papers, and the seller states that all import duties and VAT have been paid.
