The professional seller offers for sale this 1973 Suzuki GT550, powered by a 550 cc three-cylinder two-stroke engine. The GT550 was one of Suzuki’s flagship two-strokes of the early 1970s, sitting between the GT380 and the water-cooled GT750 in the range. Its air-cooled triple, with the Ram Air shroud over the cylinders, delivered strong, lively performance with a distinctive exhaust note, and the model combined a front disc brake with a conventional, upright riding position. Today the early GT triples are valued by collectors of Japanese two-strokes of the period.
This example is offered as a project. The photos show the black tank with visible wear to its paint and a worn seat cover, loose electrical wiring around the frame and engine, and chrome parts that show signs of age, such as the front mudguard, the megaphone silencers and the rear mudguard with its tail lamp. The instrument cluster with separate speedometer and rev counter, the handlebar controls, the engine cases with the Suzuki logo, the exhaust, and both spoked wheels are shown up close. According to the seller the machine still has to be started up, and bidders should plan accordingly. It comes with Canadian papers, and the seller states that all import duties and VAT have been paid.
