The private seller offers for sale this 2002 Porsche Boxster, powered by a 2.7-litre mid-mounted flat-six engine, paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. Finished in Deep Black Metallic (paint code A1) and combined with the unusual Savanna Beige leather and Alcantara interior (code SX), this left-hand-drive Boxster makes a striking first impression. It was built by Valmet Automotive in Finland, which assembled Boxsters under contract for Porsche, and was originally delivered new in England. Although manufactured in 2002, the car was first registered in 2004, and a copy of the original 2002 purchase invoice is included. The odometer currently reads 138,500 km, a figure supported by the documented history.

What sets this example apart is its specification. It was ordered as a genuine driver’s car, with the five-speed manual gearbox and without air conditioning, cruise control or navigation, keeping weight and complexity to a minimum. At the same time it carries the desirable factory Aerokit Cup package (option XAA), with its deeper front spoiler, side skirts and distinctive fixed rear wing inspired by the 911 GT3, together with the 18-inch SportDesign wheels (option XRL). The bodywork remains largely in its original paint, and the car has been kept indoors during the winter months. Its early life is recorded with official Porsche dealer stamps in England, and it has been in the hands of the current enthusiast owner since 2008. The original service book and recent invoices accompany the car.

The Boxster has recently been inspected and maintained by a Porsche specialist. During this work the exhaust system was largely renewed, including the fitment of a Boxster S-style twin-tailpipe arrangement, and the air-oil separator was replaced. The water pump and Poly-V belt had already been renewed previously. The original IMS bearing is still fitted. The fabric soft top is serviceable, while the plastic rear window shows cracks from age and will need to be replaced in the foreseeable future, an opportunity for the next owner to bring the car’s presentation another step forward.

Introduced in 1996, the 986-generation Boxster was the model that transformed Porsche’s fortunes in the late 1990s. Developed alongside the 996-generation 911 and sharing its front-end styling, the Boxster brought a mid-engined layout back to Porsche’s road car range for the first time since the 914, and its design drew direct inspiration from the 1993 Boxster concept and the legendary 550 Spyder. The 2.7-litre engine was introduced for the 2000 model year, replacing the original 2.5-litre unit, and delivers 220 hp with a characterful, free-revving flat-six soundtrack right behind the occupants. With near-perfect weight distribution, precise steering and a low centre of gravity, the Boxster quickly earned a strong reputation for its balanced and engaging handling.

Today, early Boxsters with a manual gearbox and an interesting factory specification are increasingly appreciated by enthusiasts and collectors. This car combines an unusual colour and trim combination, the factory Aerokit Cup package, a purist equipment list and documented long-term ownership, making it a characterful and rewarding open-top Porsche to enjoy on the road.
