The seller offers for sale this 1969 Lancia Fulvia Sport 1.3 S Zagato, powered by a 1,298 cc narrow-angle V4, paired with a manual transmission. It is finished in white over a red interior, with the wood-faced dashboard, the thin-rimmed wooden steering wheel and the Zagato Z on the front wing. The seller reports that the car was restored back to original specification, that the body was separated from the drivetrain so that corroded sections could be replaced and treated, that the gearbox was rebuilt with new gears where required, and that the rubber components including the glass seals and the water and oil hoses were renewed. He also states that he used the car regularly until 2020, that it has covered little distance since, and that it now needs a thorough service, with the braking system in particular requiring attention.

The Fulvia is the car that made Lancia’s reputation in the 1960s, and the engineering explains why. The narrow-angle V4, canted over in the nose with both banks under a single cylinder head, drove the front wheels through a gearbox mounted ahead of the axle line, and the car stopped on discs at all four corners at a time when rivals were still using drums. It handled beautifully, which is how a 1.3-litre saloon-based coupé came to win the 1972 International Championship for Manufacturers outright.

The Sport is the version bodied by Zagato in Milan rather than by Lancia itself. Ercole Spada drew a long, low fastback with a rounded nose, a cut-off tail and a rear window that lifts on its own hinges for ventilation, and the result looks like nothing else Lancia built. It was always the scarcer of the two Fulvia bodies and it was the more expensive one when new, and those two facts have kept it well ahead of the standard Coupé in the collector market ever since. The 1.3 S is the version most sought after, with 92 hp from the larger of the two engine sizes.
