Alongside the saloon, Lancia offered a range of coachbuilt variants, and the Coupé designed and built by Pininfarina was the most widely produced of these. Its elegant, well-balanced proportions made it one of the most refined Italian grand tourers of its day, a car for discerning owners who valued quality and engineering over flashy display.
Technically the Flaminia was as sophisticated as its appearance suggests. The all-alloy V6 engine continued the pioneering Lancia V6 tradition established with the Aurelia, while the gearbox was mounted at the rear in a transaxle layout together with a De Dion rear axle for balanced weight distribution and composed road holding.
