Description

Jaguar Mk 2 | 1963

Highlights:

– 4.2-litre four-cylinder engine, petrol, automatic transmission
– Fitted with chrome wire wheels
– Offered from private ownership
– Valid inspection

The seller offers for sale this 1963 Jaguar Mk 2, powered by a 4.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, paired with an automatic transmission. This example is presented as a four-door sedan and comes from private ownership in the Netherlands, offered with a valid inspection. The car is fitted with chrome wire wheels, a period detail that suits the elegant lines of the Mk 2 particularly well, and the automatic gearbox makes it an easy and relaxed classic to drive in modern traffic. Inside, the car offers the familiar Jaguar atmosphere of the era, with a wood-trimmed dashboard, classic instrumentation and comfortable seating for four.

The Jaguar Mk 2 was introduced in 1959 as the successor to the original compact Jaguar saloon and quickly became one of the most celebrated British cars of its generation. Marketed under Jaguar’s famous promise of grace, space and pace, the Mk 2 combined the practicality of a family saloon with genuine sporting performance. The model earned a formidable reputation in saloon car racing during the early 1960s, driven by names such as Roy Salvadori and Graham Hill, and it became equally famous on the road as the car of choice for both the British police and, according to legend, those they were chasing. Production continued until 1967, and today the Mk 2 is firmly established as one of the most recognisable and desirable classic Jaguars.

What makes the Mk 2 so appealing to collectors and enthusiasts is the way it blends style, comfort and driving pleasure. The curvaceous bodywork, slim roof pillars and generous chrome detailing give the car a timeless presence, while the cabin, trimmed in wood and leather in typical Jaguar fashion, offers a genuinely luxurious environment. On the road, the Mk 2 delivers a smooth and confident driving experience, refined enough for touring yet engaging enough to remind the driver of its competition pedigree. As a usable and stylish entry into 1960s Jaguar ownership, this automatic sedan represents an attractive proposition for the classic car enthusiast.
