The private seller offers for sale this 1983 Citroën 2CV6 Special, powered by a 602 cc air-cooled two-cylinder petrol engine, paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. Finished in a cheerful bright red with a black interior and the trademark full-length roll-back canvas roof, this is one of the most recognisable and lovable cars ever built. The odometer reads 111,111 km.

The car has been completely dismantled and all worn parts have been replaced. The chassis was taken apart and reinforced using wire-feed welding. The engine was opened up and fitted with new piston rings, valves and contact points, after which the compression was tested. The bodywork was removed, checked and repainted in a two-coat finish chosen to help the paint keep its gloss over time. A new canvas roof and new upholstery complete the work. According to the seller, all work was carried out by people experienced with the Citroën 2CV, who have completed several of these projects before.

Conceived before the Second World War and launched at the 1948 Paris Motor Show, the Citroën 2CV was designed to put rural France on wheels. Its brief was famously simple: carry two farmers and a basket of eggs across a ploughed field without breaking any. The result was a masterpiece of clever, minimalist engineering that remained in production until 1990, with millions of examples built. The 2CV6 Special was introduced as a simplified, more affordable version of the range and soon became one of the best-loved variants, offering all of the charm of the 2CV with fewer frills.

The 602 cc flat-twin engine is air-cooled, simple to maintain and pleasantly frugal, while the long-travel interconnected suspension gives the 2CV its famously soft, rolling ride. Fold back the canvas roof and the little Citroën offers an open-air driving experience that few cars can match for pure enjoyment. With its unmistakable silhouette, timeless appeal and a huge enthusiast community across Europe, the 2CV remains one of the most rewarding classics to own and drive, whether for relaxed weekend trips or summer holidays.
