The seller offers for sale this 1973 Chevron B23, a purpose-built petrol racing car with a 1930 cc four-cylinder engine and manual transmission. The vehicle shows only 600 km since its most recent rebuild and is described as ready for historic hill climb or racing use. It features a contract of sale between private parties and comes with detailed documentation of its provenance and use throughout its racing career.

This chassis (number 6) was originally purchased from Chevron in 1973 by Pierre Maublanc, the French importer for the brand. While the specific chassis number used at the 24 Hours of Le Mans that year is unknown, Maublanc did compete in that event with a B23. In 1974–75, the car was sold to Marc Pozet, who won the French Hill Climb Championship in 1974. It later passed to Alain Tessier in 1976–77, and subsequently to Gualtiero Giribaldi, who used the car in historic racing events. The current owner acquired the car for classic hill climb competition and notes that it is documented and ready for use.

The paintwork is described as good, with minor wear consistent with use. The body shows no rust and no accident history. The car is fitted with both B23 and B36 bodywork, and includes the corresponding moulds—an extremely rare and valuable addition for collectors or racers looking to preserve or replicate components. The interior, though racing-specific, is rated in excellent condition with all elements intact. Mechanically, the car is in good condition and requires no immediate servicing. The engine starts easily and runs clean and the gearbox operates smoothly without issue.

The car retains its period-correct configuration maintaining its original race-ready simplicity. Though it lacks road registration or a valid technical inspection, this is typical for a competition car of this nature.

Chevron was a small British racing car manufacturer that gained an outsized reputation in the 1960s and 1970s for building highly competitive lightweight sports prototypes and single-seaters. Founded by Derek Bennett, the company’s designs became known for their engineering precision and race-winning pedigree. The Chevron B23 was introduced in 1973 as a Group 6 sports prototype, designed for endurance racing and national championship competition. It was a development of the earlier B21, featuring a stiffer monocoque chassis, revised aerodynamics, and improved suspension geometry.

These cars were typically fitted with 2-liter Ford-based engines from manufacturers like Cosworth or BDG, and competed in European and global championships against rivals from Lola, March, and others. While Chevron was never the largest constructor, its cars regularly punched above their weight class, particularly in hill climb and endurance events. The B23 saw success in events like the Nürburgring 1000km and various national championships across Europe.

The specific history of this car, with its links to both Maublanc and Pozet, adds significant provenance. Cars with verified competition history, especially those with championship victories, are highly prized in the historic racing world. The inclusion of additional bodywork, original moulds, and racing spares makes this B23 particularly appealing for active competitors in historic motorsport, as well as for collectors looking for a car with meaningful pedigree.
