The professional seller offers for sale this 2000 Honda XR50R, powered by a 49 cc single-cylinder four-stroke engine. Finished in Honda’s unmistakable red, with the black and yellow XR graphics on the tank shrouds and bold 50R lettering on the side panels, this compact trail bike carries the styling of Honda’s larger XR off-road machines in a neatly scaled-down package. Gold-finished upper fork legs, white fork guards, spoked wheels on knobbly tyres and a low, sculpted seat complete the classic Honda dirt bike look. As a mini off-road machine it has no odometer, and the seller states the mileage as 0 km. The motorcycle has been standing and, according to the seller, will need to be recommissioned before it returns to use. It is offered with Canadian documentation, and all import duties and VAT have been paid. As a first-year example of the model, it is an appealing find for collectors of Honda’s mini trail bikes as well as for anyone looking to introduce the next generation to two wheels.
The XR50R arrived in 2000 as the successor to Honda’s long-running Z50R, itself a descendant of the original Z50 Monkey that introduced countless riders to motorcycling from the late 1960s onwards. Honda gave the new model the look of its full-size XR enduro bikes, with a modern plastic tank shroud, a long flat seat and high-mounted front fender, while retaining the proven formula underneath: an air-cooled 49 cc four-stroke single, a three-speed gearbox with automatic clutch, and a tough steel frame with suspension at both ends. Light, forgiving and famously reliable, the XR50R quickly became the benchmark among children’s off-road motorcycles and also inspired a whole pit bike culture among adults. Production under the XR50R name ran until 2003, after which the model continued as the CRF50F, which makes these early XR-badged examples increasingly sought after by enthusiasts and collectors of Honda’s off-road heritage.
