The professional seller offers for sale this 1968 Yamaha Trailmaster 80, powered by an 80 cc single-cylinder engine. This small Yamaha trail bike is a charming example of the lightweight, go-anywhere machines that helped make the brand a household name in North America during the late 1960s. Compact, simple and easy to handle, the Trailmaster was built for relaxed riding on both tarmac and unpaved tracks.
The bike presented here is finished in red, set off by chrome tank panels with the Yamaha badge, a silver rear carrier and silver mudguards. A long, perforated chrome exhaust runs along the left side of the frame, and the high-profile tyres with chrome spoked wheels underline the trail character. The round speedometer shows 1428 miles. The tank carries the “80” badge, and the frame number is clearly stamped in the steering head area.
The motorcycle is offered with Canadian papers, and according to the seller all import duties and VAT have been paid. The seller notes that the engine still needs to be started up. With its small displacement, light weight and period styling, this Trailmaster would be a fun addition to any collection of small-capacity classics from the golden age of Japanese two-wheelers.
