The private seller offers for sale this 1997 Harley-Davidson Custom, powered by a 1,900 cc V-twin engine. This is a true one-off chopper, built around a long, low black frame and finished in a soft ivory that covers the sculpted tank, the side panels and the wide, studded rear fender. The odometer shows just 100 km. Up front a springer fork with twisted legs and chrome springs carries a tall spoked wheel with a whitewall tyre, while a compact black headlight and high-rise handlebars with spiked grips set the classic chopper stance. Out back a broad rear tyre on a spoked wheel gives the motorcycle its muscular rear view. The heart of the build is a large-displacement Ultima V-twin, presented with polished engine covers, a spiked air cleaner and black exhaust pipes, and paired with an open belt primary drive and chain final drive. Details such as the diamond-stitched black leather solo seat on springs, spiked footpegs and the clean cable routing show the attention that went into this build, which is presented in good condition and makes an unmistakable statement wherever it is parked.

Few motorcycles carry as much cultural weight as the American custom chopper. Born in the years after the Second World War, when riders stripped their Harley-Davidsons of everything unnecessary, the chopper style grew into an art form defined by long forks, high bars, minimal bodywork and a big V-twin as the centrepiece. Harley-Davidson’s own heritage, from the Knucklehead and Panhead to the Evolution engine of the 1980s and 1990s, laid the foundation for a whole industry of custom builders and specialist suppliers. Ultima is one of the best known names in that world, producing large-displacement Evolution-style V-twins that offer builders more cubic inches and strong torque while keeping the classic look and sound of the American twin. A springer front end, a hand-shaped tank and fender and a solo seat are the hallmarks of a traditional chopper, and this machine combines all of them with modern displacement. For riders who want something no one else has, a characterful custom like this offers individuality, presence and the unmistakable rumble of a big American V-twin.
