The private seller offers for sale this 1991 Nissan Figaro, powered by a 987cc turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission. This right-hand drive example is finished in a warm grey-beige with the characteristic ivory roof, white-painted steel wheels and chrome bumpers, and it has remained original and unmodified throughout its life. The odometer reads 118,064 km, of which approximately 5,000 km have been covered since 2021. The car has been kept in a garage and has always been stored dry, and it is offered complete with all documents, valuation reports and two keys, including the original key and a remote.
The cabin features the Figaro’s signature ivory leather upholstery, cream-coloured steering wheel and retro-styled dashboard with its chrome-ringed gauges. At some point in the past one of the seats was replaced with another original Figaro seat that has piping in a different colour, and the dashboard shows a small crack, a known trait of this model. The original Figaro audio unit is fitted, combining a radio set to Dutch stations, a CD player that has never been used and a cassette deck. A chrome Figaro luggage rack on the boot lid completes the classic look and is included in the sale.
Please note the current status of the car. About two years ago the seller switched to another vehicle, and the Figaro’s registration was suspended at that time. The car has not been driven since, it currently has no valid APK (Dutch periodic roadworthiness test), and the battery is flat as a result of the standstill. A new owner should therefore plan for recommissioning, a new battery and a fresh APK inspection before the car returns to the road.
The Figaro is one of the most charming products of Nissan’s celebrated “Pike Factory” series, a group of limited-production retro-styled cars built on the humble K10 Micra platform. Revealed at the 1989 Tokyo Motor Show and launched in 1991, the Figaro was so popular that Nissan allocated its production of around 20,000 cars to buyers by lottery. Built by Takada Kogyo, it was offered in four colours inspired by the seasons, and its combination of 1950s and 1960s styling cues with modern Japanese engineering made it an instant cult classic, not only in Japan but also in the United Kingdom and across Europe, where many cars were later imported.
Beneath the rounded bonnet sits the turbocharged 1.0-litre MA10ET engine, which gives the lightweight Figaro lively performance in town, while the smooth 3-speed automatic makes it a relaxed companion for everyday journeys. The large retractable fabric roof section turns the car into an open-air cruiser on sunny days, and the detailing inside and out, from the toggle switches to the chrome trim, reflects the care Nissan put into this special-edition model. Today the Figaro is highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts who value its unique design and its playful, stylish character, and this original, garage-kept example offers an attractive starting point for its next owner.
