The Corsaro (Italian for “pirate”) was introduced by Moto Morini in 1958 as a sporting 125cc companion to the firm’s larger overhead-camshaft roadsters, and it went on to become one of the longest-lived and most popular models in the marque’s history. Moto Morini itself, founded in Bologna in 1937 by Alfonso Morini, built its reputation on successful overhead-camshaft racing singles that came within two points of the 1963 250cc World Championship, and that competition pedigree filtered down into road models like the Corsaro. Today, well-preserved examples of the Corsaro are sought after by collectors of classic Italian lightweights for their elegant, uncomplicated engineering and their place in Moto Morini’s post-war history.
