– ASI and CRS historic-vehicle registration, together with the Alfa Romeo certificate of origin

The seller offers for sale this 2001 Alfa Romeo GTV Cup, powered by a 2.0-litre 16-valve Twin Spark inline-four engine, paired with a manual transmission. This example is number 128 of only 239 GTV Cup cars built, all left-hand drive and, in most cases, finished in a light metallic grey. It is offered by its fourth owner: the first two owners, friends from the Salerno area, kept the car for three and nineteen years respectively, and the third owner, based near Cesena, for a further two years. The car has always been an Italian-market example and was never imported. It comes with ASI and CRS historic-vehicle registration, which can bring reduced road tax and insurance depending on the region, together with the factory Alfa Romeo certificate of origin detailing the car’s specification.

Cosmetically the car retains its original specification, fitted with the Zender aerodynamic body kit and a third brake light on the rear spoiler that were part of the GTV Cup package. The original orange side indicators have been replaced with white units, and the seller also retains a spare set of the original orange indicators. The interior, trimmed in leather by MOMO, is presented with a silver plaque bearing the model number and a removable chrome-plated ashtray cover. Four new floor mats with the Alfa Romeo logo are fitted, and the original mats are kept as well. The car is accompanied by its full set of manuals and brochure, four original keys with their key code, and a spare wheel with its original tool kit and bag. The seller reports the car has always been kept in a garage and holds a clean vehicle history report; the number plate is unobscured so that prospective buyers can carry out their own checks.

Service history includes a timing belt, water pump and spark plug replacement in December 2023 at 93219 km, and the replacement of the core plugs behind the gearbox in March 2024 at 93518 km, addressing a point known to cause oil seepage on this model; invoices for both are available. A battery disconnect switch has been fitted due to the car’s limited use, and the car passed its roadworthiness inspection on 28 May 2025. It rides on Bridgestone all-season tyres in 225/45 R17, at around 70% tread remaining. New door seals and channels for the front doors are included as spare parts, addressing a fitting known to distort over time on this model. The seller notes that the airbag warning light is currently illuminated; he attributes this to the length of the wiring beneath the seats affecting the pretensioner connectors when the seat position is adjusted, a fault that would need to be diagnosed and reset using dedicated Alfa Romeo equipment.

Introduced in the mid-1990s, the Alfa Romeo GTV (Tipo 916) was styled under Alfa Romeo’s own design studio with input from Pininfarina, and became known for its sharply creased bonnet, wedge-shaped profile and distinctive round tail lights. Alongside the six-cylinder Busso-engined versions, the GTV was also offered with Alfa Romeo’s Twin Spark 16-valve four-cylinder engines, prized by enthusiasts for their eager, high-revving character. The GTV Cup edition offered here was produced in a very limited run linked to the Alfa Romeo GTV Cup one-make racing series that ran in Italy around the turn of the millennium, and combines the model’s distinctive styling with the added aerodynamic addenda and numbered exclusivity that make it a particularly collectible variant of the GTV today.
