The GranTurismo arrived in 2007 and gave Maserati something it had been missing for years: a genuine two-plus-two grand tourer that could be used every day. Pininfarina’s shape, penned under Jason Castriota, has aged remarkably gracefully, and the car remained in production until 2019 with barely a line changed. The S arrived a year after the launch and is the version most enthusiasts point to. Its 4.7-litre V8, developed alongside Ferrari and built at Maranello, produces 440 hp at 7,000 rpm, and it is paired with the MC Shift robotised transaxle rather than the torque converter automatic. Lowered suspension, larger dual-cast brakes and a quad exhaust with an active valve complete a car that behaves like a grand tourer at a cruise and sounds like something rather less civilised above four thousand revs.

The black interior trim parts, which on these cars and on Ferraris of the same era are known to develop a tacky surface as the soft-touch coating ages, have been refinished and resprayed. The interior has been re-trimmed, including the complete centre console, and the original white cloth headlining has been replaced with black Alcantara. Combined with the recent mechanical work and the long roadworthiness certificate, it is presented as a car ready to be driven rather than one waiting for a list of jobs.
