The seller offers for sale this 1963 Porsche-Diesel Super 339, powered by a 2.5-litre three-cylinder air-cooled diesel engine, paired with a manual gearbox featuring eight forward and two reverse gears.
This particular Super 339 has been fully restored and presents in the unmistakable Porsche-Diesel red livery, with the brand’s signature forward-sloping bonnet contour preserved. The chassis carries the number 339/3626 and the tractor is offered with its original period documentation, including the Porsche-Diesel service booklet. The bodywork shows no significant rust and the paint, sheet metal and mechanical components have all been addressed during the restoration process.
Porsche-Diesel Motorenbau GmbH built tractors in Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance from the early 1950s until 1963, completing the brand’s brief but distinctive chapter in agricultural engineering. The Super series sat above the Standard and Junior ranges and was aimed at larger farms, with the Super 339 introduced alongside the Super Export 329 as a more affordable thirty-horsepower alternative. Technically the 339 shares the same air-cooled three-cylinder block as the 329, but with a lower nominal engine speed and a slightly reduced output, while retaining the load-dependent Bosch direct injection and the thermostat-controlled radial cooling fan that were considered advanced features for the period.
Production of the Super 339 ran for only a few months between late 1962 and mid-1963, after which Mannesmann AG, the parent group, terminated all Porsche-Diesel tractor manufacturing. As a result the 339 was built in much smaller numbers than the more common Junior and Standard models, and surviving restored examples are increasingly sought after by collectors of Porsche heritage and post-war German agricultural machinery alike. The Porsche/Deutz T25 gearbox, with its two ranges and combined ten gears, made the Super a versatile workhorse in its day and remains characterful to operate today.
