The seller offers for sale this 1955 Fiat 500c Topolino, powered by a 569cc four-cylinder petrol engine, paired with a manual transmission. This Topolino Cabriolet is an originally Dutch-delivered example, as confirmed by its former registration number RX-71-23. In 2018 the car underwent a comprehensive restoration: the exterior bodywork was fully blasted and resprayed at a professional bodyshop, and the finish remains in good condition. The chassis was also blasted and recoated, the floor and B-pillars re-trimmed, and the shock absorbers and wheel bearings renewed. The cabriolet hood was replaced along with the rear window, and all window and door rubbers were renewed. Both seats were reupholstered, the boot was re-trimmed and fitted with new aluminium strips, and four new classic whitewall tyres were fitted. The instruments are original and reported to be correct. Since the restoration the car has seen very little use.
The Fiat 500 Topolino, which translates loosely as “Little Mouse,” was introduced in 1936 as one of the most affordable cars available in Europe. Designed by Dante Giacosa, it was conceived to bring personal mobility to ordinary Italian families and became one of the defining small cars of the pre- and post-war era. The 500c, produced from 1949 to 1955, represented the final and most refined version of the original Topolino series, featuring a more modern front end with a full-width grille and improved interior appointments. The Cabriolet variant, with its folding fabric roof, remains the most sought-after body style among collectors today.
