The seller offers for sale this 1939 Simca 5 Topolino, powered by a 500cc four-cylinder petrol engine, paired with a manual transmission.
Finished in black with a green canvas soft top and white-wall tyres, this example is a cabriolet variant of the Simca 5 in the desirable last pre-war production year. The bodywork presents in good condition with a deep gloss, and the interior is trimmed in grey cloth. The car is Belgian-registered and located in the West Flanders region. It was restored by a previous owner.
The Simca 5 was presented in March 1936, three months before the launch of the Fiat 500 Topolino on which it was based, and was marketed at the time as the smallest series-produced car in the world. Built under licence from Fiat at the Simca factory in Nanterre, France, it was virtually identical to the Italian original but fitted with a French-market engine and minor detail differences. The cabriolet variant, with its folding fabric roof, was produced alongside the closed berline and offered open-air motoring at minimal cost. Today the Simca 5 is one of the most charismatic pre-war miniature cars, a crowd-pleaser at any classic event.
