Mercedes-Benz SL 450 | 1979

Highlights:

– 4.5-litre V8 engine, petrol, automatic transmission
– Recently refreshed with numerous new parts
– Fully original interior in good condition

The seller offers for sale this 1979 Mercedes-Benz SL 450, powered by a 4.5-litre V8 petrol engine, paired with an automatic transmission. This SL comes presented in a warm bronze-brown colour with a beige leather interior. The car has a Dutch registration and is currently located in Overijssel, Netherlands. The chassis is fully original and in honest condition. The bodywork shows some minor touch-ups here and there as can be expected on a car of this age, and the paintwork has recently been polished. Chrome trim remains in good condition. The soft top is original; the window glass is in good condition, with minor repairs carried out to small splits on both sides at the top edge. The heating system has recently been fully renewed at a cost of approximately €1,700.

The Mercedes-Benz R107 SL was introduced in 1971 and remained in production until 1989, making it one of the longest-running model series in the brand’s history. The SL 450 was powered by Mercedes-Benz’s M117 V8 engine, offering effortless grand touring capability combined with the open-air enjoyment of the roadster body. The R107 is widely regarded as one of the most elegant and well-engineered convertibles of its era, and examples in good original condition continue to attract strong interest from collectors worldwide.

The car has recently received a range of mechanical attention, including new engine mounts, stabiliser bar bushings, various rubbers and bearings, spark plugs, ignition components and a timing set. The car drives, brakes and shifts as it should. The interior is entirely original, with a particularly clean dashboard, leather seats in presentable condition, and an intact centre console.
