The seller offers for sale this 1992 Volkswagen T3 Syncro 4×4 VR6, a versatile van powered by a 2.8 litre 6-cylinder petrol engine paired with a manual gearbox. Originally delivered as a factory 4×4 with heavy-duty road package, this example features reinforced bodywork, increased ride height and modified wheel arches . Around 2016 it was professionally converted into an expedition camper with a custom high roof insulated with 5 cm insulation, and fitted with a heater, compressor refrigerator and air conditioning. The engine runs well, the gearbox shifts smoothly and in 2025 a new exhaust was installed. The body shows rust on the exterior seams and cosmetic attention is required. The differential lock function is currently not working. The current documented mileage is 146.000 km.
The Volkswagen T3 Syncro is widely appreciated for its robust engineering and off-road capability. Developed in cooperation with Steyr-Daimler-Puch, the Syncro system gave the T3 serious traction on challenging terrain while maintaining everyday usability. The model gained popularity among travelers and adventurers thanks to its compact dimensions combined with strong load capacity. Conversions into camper or expedition vehicles further enhanced its appeal, offering practical living space within a classic Volkswagen platform. The VR6 engine upgrade adds modern performance to the traditional T3 character, creating a distinctive blend of classic design and enhanced driving power that continues to attract enthusiasts across Europe.
