The seller offers for sale this rare Volkswagen T1 Kemperink Pick-up from 1967. Originally built by Kemperink and converted for use as a Dutch Army radio vehicle, this unique extended T1 is one of only six or seven ever produced. After its military service, it was transformed into a camper by a private owner and has remained in the same family since 1976. Between 2022 and 2024, the vehicle underwent a meticulous professional restoration. The body received new panels, a fresh front section, and a full epoxy and respray treatment. The 1600 cc engine, previously rebuilt by a VW specialist, has been serviced and adjusted. The vehicle starts and runs smoothly, with no smoke, no mechanical noise, and a precise manual gearbox. The underside has been rust-protected with sheep fat treatment. Inside, the bus features a refined camper layout with high-quality insulation, new upholstery, wall panels, a folding bed bench, and dimmable LED lighting. This rare Kemperink T1 represents a remarkable combination of heritage, craftsmanship, and usability. This T1 holds a valid technical inspection and is a real collectors item.
The Volkswagen T1, introduced in the 1950s, became a cultural icon and a symbol of mobility and freedom. Its air-cooled engine, rear-wheel drive, and simple mechanics made it dependable for both work and leisure. Special conversions like those by Kemperink extended its versatility, creating elongated versions used for transport, camping, and official purposes. Today, the T1 is cherished by enthusiasts worldwide for its timeless charm, characteristic design, and collectible status. Driving one offers a nostalgic yet surprisingly capable experience, combining vintage appeal with a practical spirit that continues to fascinate collectors and adventurers alike.
