The seller offers for sale this 1965 Volkswagen T1 bus equipped with a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine and manual transmission. Delivered new in the United States, the bus was later bought in 2005 by a person from Leicester, England, where it was registered and kept for several years. It was then sold to a Danish enthusiast who, in 2011, carried out a restoration—inside and out—and installed a new engine. Since then, the vehicle has been kept indoors, occasionally used for short drives, and maintained in good condition. The bus runs and shifts well, with no starting issues, smoke, or unusual noises. The body and paint remain in beautiful shape thanks to indoor storage, and the interior preserves its authentic 1960s look, including original steering wheel and switches.
The Volkswagen T1, often called the “Split Window Bus,” became an icon of the 1960s and a cultural symbol of freedom and adventure. Known for its versatility and charm, it was offered in countless configurations—from family transport to camper vans. With its air-cooled engine, simple mechanics, and unmistakable design, the T1 remains one of the most beloved classics of all time. Restored examples like this 1965 model combine nostalgic appeal with dependable usability, making them highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts across the globe.
