The seller offers for sale this 1989 Volkswagen Golf GTI, powered by a 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, paired with a six-speed manual transmission. This Golf GTI was comprehensively rebuilt and custom finished in 2015. At the heart of the car sits a revised Audi 1.8-litre 20-valve turbocharged four-cylinder engine, originally from the Audi S3, which the seller estimates produces between 250 and 260 hp. The engine uses electronic fuel injection and has been tuned with an uprated turbocharger, and both the engine and engine bay are described as being in good condition.

The drivetrain has been extensively modified to suit the engine conversion. Power is sent to the front wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox sourced from a VW Touran, operated by a centrally mounted selector, with a CAE short shifter fitted more recently. Braking is handled by ventilated disc brakes front and rear, converted to use Brembo components, and the car runs a sport suspension setup with a coilover kit. It rides on Compomotive motorsport alloy wheels fitted with good tyres, and is equipped with a stainless steel exhaust system.

The bodywork was restored a number of years ago, with the work described by the seller as having been carried out professionally and well maintained since. The car is finished in dark green metallic and was repainted during the build. Inside, it features cloth upholstery in dark blue with a line pattern, with both front seats being Recaro items, while the remainder of the interior is presented in original condition. The odometer shows approximately 9,984 km.

The second-generation Volkswagen Golf GTI, introduced in the mid-1980s, built on the reputation of the original Golf GTI that effectively defined the hot hatchback. Larger and more refined than its predecessor, the Mk2 GTI became a benchmark for the class and remains a popular base for enthusiasts and tuners. This particular example takes that tradition further, combining the classic Mk2 silhouette with a modern turbocharged drivetrain and uprated running gear, making it a distinctive interpretation of the GTI theme.
