  • Original US-market model, repainted bright yellow

  • Valid technical inspection

The seller offers for sale this 1975 Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet, originally built for the American market. The car underwent a full professional restoration upon its arrival in France in 1990, including a complete repaint and mechanical overhaul. The exterior, originally orange, now shines in a vibrant yellow, with the bodywork and paint still in  good condition. The original engine was replaced in December 1990 with a more powerful 1.6-litre 50 hp version, delivering smooth performance. Since restoration, it has belonged to collectors and has been stored indoors, driven sparingly and always properly maintained. The current owner, since 2018, confirms that the car runs well, with no smoke or starting issues and a smooth-shifting manual gearbox.

The convertible top has a few small marks on the headliner, and the odometer is currently not functioning. Overall, the interior remains in good shape and true to the car’s original spirit, combining charm and simplicity.

The Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet, produced by Karmann in Osnabrück, is one of the most beloved open-top classics of the 20th century. Combining German reliability with unmistakable design, it became a symbol of freedom and fun driving. The 1600cc version is particularly sought-after for its robustness and ease of use, offering relaxed cruising and strong parts availability. Today, the Beetle Cabriolet remains an accessible and enjoyable collector’s car that captures the essence of classic motoring.
