The seller offers for sale this Volkswagen Beetle 1303 Cabriolet from 1978, a classic open-top version of the iconic Beetle produced by Karmann. The car is powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder petrol engine paired with a manual gearbox. According to the seller, the vehicle was originally imported from California and has been in the same family since 1996. The engine runs well and the gearbox shifts smoothly. The car has always been maintained by a Beetle specialist and recently received a new technical inspection valid until April 2027 as well as a new battery. The bodywork is finished in black paint that has not been repainted in the past decades. Inside, the car features a grey cloth interior, a Becker Grand Prix radio, a set of floor mats and a leather sport steering wheel, while the original steering wheel is also included. The current, but undocumented mileage is 49.600 km.
The cabriolet is equipped with a manually operated soft top. The fabric shows visible signs of use and includes two small tears, but the mechanism remains functional and operates properly.
The Volkswagen Beetle is one of the most recognizable cars ever produced and became a symbol of reliable and accessible motoring worldwide. The 1303, also known as the Super Beetle, was introduced in the early 1970s and featured improvements such as a curved windscreen and revised suspension for improved comfort and handling. Cabriolet versions were built by Karmann and remained in production until 1979, long after berline production had shifted to newer models. Today, these late Beetle cabriolets are appreciated for their classic styling, simple mechanical design and relaxed open-air driving experience. Their combination of practicality, charm and historic significance continues to make them popular among classic car enthusiasts.
