The seller offers for sale this 1960 Porsche Diesel Super Master tractor, a rare agricultural vehicle from the early production series of Porsche’s diesel division. This example features a 3-cylinder diesel engine with a displacement of 2468 cc, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. It is equipped with three power take-offs (PTO), a hydraulic lift system, and retains the original German documentation, including the old Fahrzeugbrief with parts 1 and 2.
According to the seller, the vehicle underwent a technical overhaul around 2012. Since then, it has been used sparingly and stored indoors as part of a private collection. The engine starts and runs, and the gearbox functions in all five gears. Braking components, including the handbrake, have recently been serviced. The electrics were renewed, including the lights, wiring, and a new battery.
The Super Master received a respray by the previous owner after it was completely media blasted. The hood and fenders were finished by a specialist. Four new tires have been mounted, completing the mechanical and visual refresh.
The vehicle was repainted several years ago and still presents with an even finish. The bodywork shows signs of past use, with some wear typical for an older utility vehicle. Though not showroom quality, the visual state is consistent with a respectful restoration.
The interior appears complete and in usable condition. The seat and controls show general wear but no serious damage. Plastics and metal trims are visibly aged, but functional. The vehicle has no power-assisted features or modern equipment, consistent with its original design.
Technically, the tractor is functional but has not been in regular use since 2024. It has no active roadworthiness certification and is currently displayed for decorative purposes. Nevertheless, it drives, brakes and shifts as intended.
The Porsche Diesel brand is a lesser-known chapter in Porsche history, rooted in post-war innovation and agricultural development. Originally stemming from Ferdinand Porsche’s pre-war designs for a people’s tractor, production began under license and later in-house as Porsche-Diesel Motorenbau GmbH. These tractors were built in Friedrichshafen, Germany, and were available in multiple configurations—Junior, Standard, Super, and Master—based on engine displacement and intended use. The Super Master was a powerful mid-range model featuring robust engineering for intensive field work. With a 3-cylinder air-cooled diesel engine, it was designed for reliability, fuel economy, and minimal maintenance. The inclusion of a multi-speed gearbox and hydraulic capabilities made it versatile for various farming applications. In total, Porsche produced around 125,000 tractors before selling the division to Renault in the early 1960s. These vehicles have since become collectors’ items, admired for their historical value and engineering pedigree. Unlike sports cars, Porsche tractors represent a functional legacy tied closely to post-war European recovery and innovation in agriculture.
This particular 1960 example, with low documented mileage (10 km post-restoration) and matching numbers, is part of the earlier production years before the brand’s agricultural chapter ended. For collectors of vintage farm equipment or Porsche enthusiasts, it represents a tangible link to the broader scope of the brand’s engineering legacy.
