The seller offers for sale a 1978 Porsche 911 SC coupe with a 3.0-liter flat-six and manual transmission, originally delivered in Switzerland and acquired by the current owner in Monaco in 2001. Used for European trips and daily driving until a few years ago, it has been serviced by a respected Porsche specialist. It starts first time after long idle periods, shows no unusual engine noises or smoke when warm, and the original 915 gearbox shifts smoothly without odd sounds. Timing chain tensioners were upgraded to the recommended hydraulic type. The bonnet was replaced early in its life and paint shows a slight mismatch; door sills were professionally welded to address the known weak point. Inside, seat stitching is coming undone, the radio is present but seldom used, and the gauges work; the speedometer was replaced, adding roughly 5,000 km to the indicated total. The car has not suffered accident damage and is now registered as a collector vehicle; the MOT was done two years ago and remains valid for six years. A spare set of cookie-cutter wheels with winter tyres is included. Fuel gauge can be erratic, so range tracking is advised. The car holds a valid technical inspection certificate.
The Porsche 911 SC (1978–1983) is admired for robust engineering, classic G-series styling, and a charismatic air-cooled soundtrack. Its 3.0-liter flat-six delivers flexible performance and long-legged cruising, while the 915 gearbox rewards measured inputs. Galvanised bodywork and dependable mechanicals helped cement its reputation as a usable classic. The driving position, light front end, and rear-engined balance create a distinctive feel that enthusiasts seek. Broad parts support and specialist knowledge make ownership approachable, and market interest in the SC has remained strong thanks to its blend of period charm and everyday drivability.
