– Long-term indoor storage and sparing use

The seller offers for sale a 1967 Porsche 911 S, a classic short-wheelbase (SWB) model with matching numbers and a 2.0L flat-six engine. Originally delivered in 1967 and imported from the United States over two decades ago, this Porsche underwent a restoration shortly after arriving in the Netherlands. The restoration included a strip-down of the car, and attention was given to both the mechanical components and cosmetic finish. It is painted in its original silver-grey and features the hallmark characteristics of early 911 S models, such as lightweight construction, manual gearbox, and 6-cylinder air-cooled engine.

This example was restored to original specifications, though the engine was enhanced with increased displacement to provide better performance while retaining its authentic character. The vehicle has been used primarily for classic car rallies and has spent most of its time stored indoors. While it shows some aging, it remains a strong candidate for continued rally use or further cosmetic restoration back to concours condition.

The car’s exterior is described as being in good condition, but it is not without faults. The bodywork shows signs of age, and rust is visible on the floor pan and rear fender. The paint is still presentable, though not without wear, and the body could benefit from further attention.

The interior is mostly original and considered to be in good condition, showing typical wear and tear consistent with its age. The original seats are still with the car.

Porsche introduced the 911 S in 1966 as a performance-oriented version of the standard 911. The ‘S’ stood for ‘Super’ and brought several technical upgrades, such as higher compression, forged pistons, and a power increase to 160 hp, which was a significant jump from the base model. The 911 S also included ventilated disc brakes and Fuchs alloy wheels, making it a more desirable and dynamic version among early 911 variants.

Being a short-wheelbase model (built before 1969), this 911 S represents an early and more nimble iteration of the classic Porsche formula. These cars are lighter and have sharper handling than their long-wheelbase successors. Due to their low production numbers and historical importance, SWB 911 S models are increasingly rare and desirable among collectors. The matching numbers status and comprehensive restoration history of this example make it a potentially valuable investment.

Over the years, early 911s have grown in status from sporting machines to collectible icons, thanks in part to their pure design and mechanical simplicity. The 911 S in particular laid the groundwork for future performance variants like the Carrera RS and Turbo. Its understated design, combined with the unmistakable sound and balance of a flat-six engine mounted at the rear, continues to attract enthusiasts worldwide.
