The private seller offers for sale this 1963 Morris Minor 1000, powered by a 1098 cc four-cylinder petrol engine, paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. This two-door saloon is finished in a soft pale blue-grey that suits the rounded lines of the Minor perfectly, set off by chrome bumpers with overriders, a chrome grille, polished hubcaps and whitewall tyres. Inside, the cabin continues the light theme with pleated light grey upholstery on the front seats and the rear bench, a body-coloured dashboard with the characteristic centrally mounted speedometer and a floor-mounted gear lever. As a 1963 car, it benefits from the larger 1098 cc engine that was introduced to the Minor 1000 for the 1963 model year.
The seller rates the technical condition of the car as solid, while the bodywork, paint and interior show the wear and signs of use that are to be expected on a car of this age. The photographs document the car in detail, including some marks on the paintwork and brightwork, giving potential bidders a clear view of what they can expect. With its approachable mechanics, wide parts availability and strong club support, this Minor offers an easy way into classic motoring that can be enjoyed as it is and improved over time.
Designed by Alec Issigonis, who would later create the Mini, the Morris Minor made its debut at the 1948 London Motor Show and quickly became one of the defining British cars of the post-war era. Its monocoque construction, torsion bar front suspension and rack-and-pinion steering gave it road manners that were well ahead of most small family cars of the time. In 1956 the car was updated and renamed Minor 1000, and in 1961 it became the first British car to pass one million units produced, an event celebrated with the famous lilac Minor Million special edition.
The 1098 cc A-series engine, fitted from late 1962, brought more torque, a stronger gearbox and larger front brakes, making the later Minor 1000 the most usable version for modern roads. Production continued until 1971, by which time more than 1.6 million examples had been built in saloon, Tourer, Traveller and commercial forms. Today the Minor is loved for its friendly character, simple mechanics and timeless shape, and it remains one of the most recognisable and most enjoyable British classics to own and drive.
