Description

MG Midget | 1962

Highlights:

– 0.9-Liter, 4-cylinder petrol engine with manual transmission
– Early MG Midget Series I with pre-production characteristics
– Original Netherlands-delivered car with only two previous owners
– Extensive restoration to original specification
– Soft top and removable hard top included

The seller offers for sale an MG Midget from 1962. This cabriolet is powered by a 948 cc four-cylinder petrol engine and paired with a manual transmission. The car was originally delivered in the Netherlands on 23 January 1962 and remained with its first owner until 2003, after which it was owned by the second owner until 2025. During this period, the car underwent an extensive restoration to original specification, during which it was disassembled, including the engine, and subsequently rebuilt. The interior has been restored to original appearance, with refurbished original seats finished in black with white piping and renewed interior trim.

The car is equipped with a fabric soft top. The soft top is present and described as being in good condition, showing light signs of use while remaining watertight. The soft top mechanism functions properly, with only minor resistance noted during operation. In addition, a removable hard top is included, also described as being in good condition. The hard top is manually operated and provides additional comfort and protection when fitted.

The MG Midget is one of the most charming British sports cars of the early 1960s, offering lightweight construction, simple mechanics, and an engaging driving experience. Introduced as an accessible open sports car, the Midget quickly gained popularity for its lively handling and classic proportions. Early Series I examples are particularly sought after, especially cars with documented history and original specifications. With its compact size, responsive steering, and timeless design, the MG Midget continues to appeal to enthusiasts who appreciate pure, analog driving and classic British motoring heritage.
