Description

Mercedes-Benz 250 SE (W108) | 1968

Highlights:

– 2.5-litre inline-six engine, petrol, manual transmission
– Repainted a number of years ago
– Fully restored interior
– Extensive recent mechanical and ignition refresh

The seller offers for sale this 1968 Mercedes-Benz 250 SE, powered by a 2.5-litre inline-six engine, paired with a manual transmission. This 250 SE was delivered new in 1968 and has spent its life in a warm, dry climate, which has helped to preserve the car, although the seller notes that a few small marks can still be found. The paintwork was redone a number of years ago and is presented in good condition, while the interior has been fully restored.

The car has benefited from a significant amount of recent mechanical work. According to the seller, this includes new springs and a refreshed braking system, a renewed compressor, new radiator hoses, new spark plugs, a new distributor and spark plug cables, new front window rubber, an overhauled gearbox selector mechanism and a complete new exhaust system from front to back. The engine is described as being in good condition. Since 2021 the car has been dry-stored in a heated garage.

The Mercedes-Benz W108 series, introduced in 1965, marked the start of a new generation of full-size Mercedes saloons, replacing the outgoing fintail models with cleaner, more restrained styling. The 250 SE combined elegant proportions with a smooth fuel-injected 2.5-litre inline-six engine, offering the comfort, engineering quality and understated presence that defined Mercedes-Benz of the period. Today the W108 is appreciated by classic Mercedes enthusiasts for its timeless lines, solid build and its usable character as a classic that can still be driven and enjoyed.
