The private seller offers for sale this 1969 Land Rover Series IIA 109, equipped with a 2.25-litre inline-four petrol engine, paired with a manual transmission. The Series IIA, built from 1961 to 1971, is the best-known of the early Land Rovers: a simple, rugged and endlessly adaptable vehicle with an aluminium body on a steel chassis, and a design that earned its reputation on farms, expeditions and in military service around the world. The 109 inch long-wheelbase model with a pick-up body offers the load capacity and presence that made it so popular, and the 2.25-litre petrol engine gives it an unburstable, easy-going character.

According to the seller, this example has been in the same ownership since 2012 and has been through an extensive restoration with emphasis on mechanical reliability, durability and preservation of its original character. The chassis is galvanised, the steel components have been restored and galvanised, and traditional solid rivets were used. The bodywork has been repaired, straightened and repainted in the light blue seen in the photographs. The engine has been completely rebuilt and is currently in its running-in period, with a new carburettor, a renewed braking system with new copper brake lines and a new clutch master cylinder. The gearbox has not undergone a complete rebuild.

The pick-up has been converted from right-hand drive to left-hand drive, using original Land Rover components sourced in the United Kingdom, which makes it especially attractive for continental European buyers. It is also fitted with seats in the original style, European-specification headlights and powder-coated wheels, with tyres replaced about four years ago. Photographic documentation of the restoration is available. For collectors and enthusiasts of classic Land Rovers the Series IIA 109 remains a practical, honest and instantly recognisable classic.
