The seller offers for sale a 1956 Jaguar XK140 OTS, professionally renovated to an exceptional standard. Imported from California in 2005, the car underwent a nut and bolt restoration with more than 3,500 man-hours invested. The matching numbers are certified by Classic Car Authentication. Finished in striking Ghost Chrome paint that imitates the aluminum bodies of original Le Mans racers, the bodywork has been completely sandblasted and hand-restored. The interior is beautifully finished in burgundy leather with plush carpeting and a cherry-wood dashboard, all instruments in working order. The engine starts without hesitation, produces no smoke, and the gearbox shifts smoothly. Upgrades from later Jaguar models include disc brakes, a larger radiator, and a modern starter motor, improving both reliability and driving enjoyment.
The Jaguar XK140 succeeded the XK120 in 1954, offering increased interior space, refined suspension, and more powerful engines. Available in Fixed Head, Drophead, and Open Two-Seater (OTS) configurations, it appealed to enthusiasts seeking both elegance and sporting performance. The XK140 retained Jaguar’s celebrated straight-six engine while offering more comfort, making it suitable for long-distance touring as well as spirited driving. Today, the XK140 is highly regarded among collectors for its balance of style, performance, and historical significance. With its Le Mans-inspired specification and meticulous restoration, this particular example stands as a showcase of craftsmanship and driving appeal.
