The seller offers for sale this 1941 Ford Super De Luxe Station Wagon, powered by a 3.6-litre flathead V8 engine, paired with a 3-speed manual transmission. Finished in deep maroon with natural varnished wood bodywork, whitewall tyres and chrome trim, this is a textbook example of the legendary American “Woody”. The warm tones of the wood continue inside, where the brown leather bench seats, the slatted wooden roof lining and the period dashboard with its cream steering wheel, Art Deco instruments and chrome details create a wonderfully evocative cabin. The car carries the Super De Luxe script on its bonnet sides, a roof rack and the characteristic rear-mounted spare wheel on the tailgate.

The car has been restored, and the seller has around 200 photographs of the restoration, taken by professional car photographers, showing every detail of the work. The car has also been featured in two separate articles in Swedish classic car magazines, which underlines its standing within the classic car community. A valid inspection is in place.

The 1941 model year marked a completely new generation of Ford passenger cars. The bodies became longer, wider and more rounded, with a new 114-inch wheelbase, a wider interior and a distinctive three-piece grille that gave the 1941 Ford its unmistakable face. The Super De Luxe sat at the top of the range above the Special and De Luxe, and offered the most comprehensive equipment and the richest trim. The station wagon was the most exclusive and labour-intensive body style of all: its body was built largely from maple and birch, much of it sourced from Ford’s own forests and processed at the company’s Iron Mountain plant in Michigan. Wood-bodied wagons were produced in relatively small numbers and required considerable care, which is why comparatively few have survived to the present day.

At the heart of the car is Ford’s famous flathead V8, the engine that brought eight-cylinder power to the masses in the 1930s and went on to become a cornerstone of American hot rod culture. Its smooth, torquey character and unmistakable burble suit the relaxed nature of the Woody perfectly. Today, pre-war and early wartime Ford Woodies are among the most iconic and sought-after American classics, symbols of a golden age of motoring, surf culture and coastal road trips. With its restoration, its strong visual presence and its documented magazine history, this 1941 Super De Luxe Station Wagon makes a true statement in any collection.
