Description

Ford Mustang Fastback | 1967

Highlights:

    • Restored over five years by specialist workshops in Barcelona
    • 5.0-litre V8 engine imported from the United States
    • “Candyapple” metallic red paintwork
    • Disc brakes
    • Driven only about 200 miles since restoration completion

The seller offers for sale this 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback, a legendary American muscle car that has undergone a five-year restoration process completed in 2020. Originally delivered in the United States, this example has been rebuilt in Barcelona. During the restoration, a new 5.0-litre V8 engine was imported from the U.S. and installed, paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. This engine is reported to deliver around 300 horsepower, enhanced by an Edelbrock carburettor, providing strong performance while maintaining the classic character of the Mustang.

Since its restoration, the car has travelled approximately 200 miles. The bodywork is finished in a “Candyapple” metallic red, a colour that accentuates the fastback’s iconic, aggressive lines and quad-headlight front fascia. The paintwork is described as good.

The interior is trimmed in black leatherette, covering the seats, door panels, and carpeting, combined with chrome accents on the dashboard and centre console. Factory features include a three-spoke wood-rim steering wheel, heating and ventilation controls, dual mirrors, and a Mustang-branded radio system. The interior is reported as being in very good condition overall, with the front and rear seats retaining their shape and surface integrity. Only minor colour loss is noted on the centre console, consistent with light use since the car’s refurbishment. Mechanically, the Mustang is solid. The vehicle benefits from significant technical upgrades, including disc brakes for improved stopping power and a modern rack-and-pinion power steering system, enhancing drivability without sacrificing its vintage appeal. The car comes with a valid Spanish MOT (inspection) valid through 2025.

The 1967 Mustang Fastback is among the most celebrated and instantly recognisable American cars, capturing the essence of the muscle car era. Introduced as part of the first generation of Mustangs, the Fastback body style stood apart with its sweeping roofline, creating an aggressive yet stylish silhouette that appealed to buyers seeking both performance and aesthetics. The Mustang became an icon due to its combination of sporty looks, affordability, and a broad selection of engine choices, allowing buyers to tailor the car to their performance needs and budget. The model’s popularity was cemented further by countless film and television appearances, most famously in Steve McQueen’s Bullitt, where the Mustang Fastback played a starring role in one of cinema’s most legendary car chases.

The 1967 model year introduced subtle styling revisions, including a more pronounced grille and refined body contours, which gave the car a bolder presence while maintaining its lightweight, sporty proportions. The Fastback’s fold-down rear seat added practicality to its muscular looks, making it both a performance vehicle and a usable daily driver in its time. Classic Mustangs, especially Fastbacks, remain in strong demand among collectors and enthusiasts worldwide, with well-restored examples commanding significant value in the market. Vehicles like this one, featuring a fresh restoration, upgraded mechanicals, and a stunning colour scheme, offer a compelling proposition for anyone seeking to experience American muscle car heritage with the benefit of modern reliability improvements.
