The seller offers for sale this 1983 Citroën 2CV6 Spécial Transat, a limited-edition variant of the iconic French “Deux Chevaux.” Powered by a 602cc two-cylinder petrol engine with manual transmission, this cabriolet offers classic simplicity paired with subtle upgrades. The car retains its recognizable narrow bumpers, steel wheels, and characteristic 2CV silhouette. A notable highlight is the rare Transat specification, finished in Blanc Meije with period-correct blue and white roof and decals.

The chassis was replaced with a galvanized version (certificate included), and both the underside and floor were treated with RX5 and RX10 for corrosion resistance. Technically, the vehicle has undergone a lot of mechanical work: a major service was carried out in early 2025, with a new battery, starter motor, voltage regulator, and reconditioned carburetor installed. Additional components such as ignition system, wiring, fuel lines, and shock absorbers were renewed or adjusted. The braking system and steering were also overhauled.

Cosmetically, the car received a respray inside and out. The front fenders, rear fenders, bonnet, windscreen, and multiple body panels have been replaced or repaired. Original-style Transat upholstery and interior trim have been refitted, including seat covers, door panels, sound-deadening insulation, and grey carpeting. A set of five near-new tires with new tubes is fitted.

The overall condition of the car is classified by the seller as good. The bodywork shows some minor imperfections. The interior is in good condition, with no notable wear or damage.

Technically, the car is in a good condition. All lighting and indicators are functional. The Citroën has a valid Dutch APK (technical inspection) until 13 August 2026.

First registered in Belgium, this vehicle was imported to the Netherlands and is now offered with Dutch registration papers. Restoration records, photographs, and invoices are available, documenting the work carried out over 2023–2024. The car is sold under the margin scheme by a private owner.

Introduced in 1983, the Citroën 2CV6 Spécial Transat was a limited edition aimed at specific European markets including the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany. This model is a variation of what was known in France as the “France 3” edition, named after the Citroën-sponsored yacht in the 1983 America’s Cup. In the UK, the same edition was marketed as the Beachcomber. These special editions were produced in limited numbers—approximately 4,000 units across all markets during 1983 and 1984—making them one of the more collectible variants of the 2CV.

The 2CV, or “Deux Chevaux,” has long been celebrated for its utilitarian charm, simple mechanics, and distinctive styling. Originally introduced in 1948, it was designed to mobilize rural France with a car that could drive across a ploughed field while carrying eggs without breaking them. Over the decades, the 2CV evolved but never strayed far from its original ethos. By the early 1980s, Citroën introduced several themed special editions, often featuring bright graphics, color-matched interiors, and striped soft tops—appealing to a new wave of nostalgic buyers as the model neared the end of its production run.

The Transat stands out for its maritime-inspired theme, complete with blue-and-white striped roof, matching decals, and color-coded upholstery. Despite its modest engine, the 2CV remains a pleasure to drive due to its lightweight build and exceptional ride comfort. It became a symbol of countercultural cool and is now regarded as a beloved European classic with strong enthusiast support.
