The seller offers for sale a rare and well-preserved 1994 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible Indy Pace Car Edition, a factory-produced limited series commemorating the Corvette’s role as the official pace car of the 1995 Indianapolis 500. This car is number 50 of the 70 units specifically designated for parade duty at the event. According to the Pace Car Registry, it was assigned to Jeff Belskus, then President and CEO of Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The car still retains its original “50” window sticker, a detail often lost over time.
Powered by a 5.7-litre V8 engine paired with an automatic transmission, this Corvette delivers classic American power and smooth highway cruising. The convertible bodywork adds to the driving experience, while the original leather interior and switchgear remain in excellent condition. It retains the factory-applied plastic covering under the roof panel, further highlighting its minimal use.
The vehicle was imported into the Netherlands in 1996, with import and duty documents present, and then again into the UK in 2005, also with documentation. Included in the sale are the GM Certificate of Origin, original bill of sale, EU and UK import documents, and a comprehensive book pack including the owner’s manual and warranty booklets. The car also comes with a valid MOT certificate through August 2025 and a current UK V5 registration.
Exterior and paintwork are in factory condition. The paint is beautiful and requires no attention.
Inside, the leather seats, dashboard, and controls present as close to new. No repairs or replacements are needed, and all components work as intended. The interior reflects the car’s low mileage and careful long-term ownership.
The fourth-generation (C4) Corvette, produced from 1984 to 1996, marked a significant evolution in the model’s design and engineering. By 1994, Chevrolet had refined the platform considerably, introducing safety upgrades, improved ride quality, and better build quality than earlier C4 models. These later-year cars benefited from an updated LT1 5.7-litre V8 engine producing around 300 horsepower and featuring sequential fuel injection, making them more powerful and efficient than their predecessors.
The 1995 Indianapolis 500 was the fourth time a Corvette had served as the official pace car, reflecting its symbolic status in American performance car culture. Chevrolet capitalised on this prestige with a special-edition Corvette convertible finished in Dark Purple Metallic with Arctic White leather interior and special graphics. Only 527 of these were built, and only 70 were assigned to parade use at the event.
Indy Pace Car Editions have long been sought after by collectors due to their unique provenance, limited numbers, and the public exposure they receive during one of the world’s most famous motorsport events. With just over 4,500 verified miles and extensive documentation, this Corvette offers an opportunity to acquire a well-documented and rare collector’s item. The car’s originality, parade assignment, and long-term ownership enhance its appeal both as a collector’s piece and as a car to enjoy on the road.
