The seller offers for sale this 1982 Chevrolet Corvette C3, powered by a 5.7-litre Crossfire Injection V8, paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission. Finished in its original Gold Metallic over a tan interior, this is a well-preserved example of the final year of the third-generation Corvette. The car was acquired by its long-term owner in 1987 and has covered 55,580 miles from new. It spent 41 years in California, and the original “pink slip”, the predecessor of the modern US title, is still present with the car. The bodywork presents in good condition, with the seller noting no cracks or chips, and the original bumpers, rubbers and mirror-glass roof panels are all in place. The interior shows only minimal wear, with sound seat padding, an original and uncracked dashboard, and functioning power seats and power door mirrors. The seller notes that the tachometer and voltmeter are not currently working, while the remaining gauges function.
In 2023 the car was mechanically profesionally recommissioned, in preparation for road inspection. The work carried out includes new oil and coolant, a new water pump, new engine control unit, new spark plugs and leads, new filters, a new oil-pressure sensor, two new shock absorbers, a new temperature sensor, cleaned fuel lines, a new carburettor, new air filter, new intake and a new distributor cap. The chassis is described as solid, with no welding required and no previous weld repairs, as is typical of a long-term California car.
The C3 Corvette was produced from 1968 to 1982 and remains one of the most recognisable American sports cars of its era, with its long-nosed, curvaceous “Coke bottle” styling and fibreglass body. The 1982 model year was the final year of the C3 and the first to feature the Crossfire Injection system, a twin throttle-body fuel-injection setup fitted to the 5.7-litre small-block V8. It also introduced a 700R4 automatic transmission and, for 1982, a lift-up rear glass hatch on the Collector Edition. The removable roof panels, independent rear suspension and distinctive wraparound rear glass make the third-generation Corvette a firm favourite among collectors and enthusiasts of classic American performance cars. This particular example combines the desirable Crossfire drivetrain with honest, original presentation and a documented, single-family ownership history.
