The seller offers for sale this 1982 Chevrolet Camaro, a highly modified American muscle car that has been transformed into a street-legal sprint car built for 400-meter drag racing. This example is powered by a 6.3-liter 383 stroker V8 petrol engine paired with an automatic transmission. According to the seller, the car is an original Dutch-delivered vehicle with Dutch registration and has been owned by the current owner for approximately 27 years. The vehicle was acquired as a restoration project and later extensively modified with numerous high-performance components for sprint racing. The exterior is finished in a special effects blue colour with 3M striping and features a Harwood fiberglass hood scoop and LeBra front cover. The interior is equipped with racing components including JAZ performance seats, Sabelt six-point harnesses, AutoMeter gauges and a Grant steering wheel with controls for NOS and the trans-brake system. The engine runs well and the gearbox shifts smoothly according to the seller.
The car features an extensively upgraded drivetrain including a forged 383 stroker V8 with JE pistons, forged crankshaft and connecting rods, Comp Cams camshaft components, high-performance cylinder heads and a Holley four-barrel carburetor. Additional performance equipment includes a NOS Powershot nitrous system with bottle heater, MSD ignition components and high-capacity cooling systems. Power is transferred through a TCI StreetFighter automatic transmission with trans-brake and performance torque converter. The chassis has also been modified with a four-link suspension system, panhard bar, performance driveshaft and differential upgrades including Eaton Detroit Truetrac and Richmond 4.11 gearing. Alloy wheels and Hoosier Quick Time Pro rear tires complete the drag-oriented setup.
The Chevrolet Camaro of the early 1980s belongs to the third generation of the iconic American pony car. These models featured a lighter and more aerodynamic design compared with earlier Camaros, which made them a popular platform for performance modifications and motorsport builds. Their strong V8 engine options and rear-wheel-drive layout made them well suited for drag racing and other performance applications. Today modified examples such as this one attract enthusiasts who appreciate powerful American muscle cars and custom performance builds.
