The seller offers for sale this 1994 Aston Martin Virage Volante, a rare and characterful cabriolet, finished in the elegant Cannock Black with a matching all-black leather interior. This example is one of just 239 Virage Volantes ever produced, of which only 113 were in left-hand drive, and reportedly one of only three built in this specific color combination. Originally delivered by Cito Motors in Eindhoven to its first Dutch owner (who later exported the car to Belgium), the car returned to Cito when acquired by its second and current owner—who has cherished the vehicle for 23 years. The car has been maintained by Aston Martin specialists.
Under the hood sits a naturally aspirated 5.3-liter V8, mated to an automatic transmission. The car benefits from later-model updates, including revised interior trim, an airbag steering wheel, side vents, and 17” alloy wheels. Noteworthy upgrades include large AP Racing brakes at the front and an original Aston Martin 6.3L sports exhaust. The car sits on Michelin tyres and comes with the original build sheet and a set of service invoices. A Becker radio with Aston Martin branding replaces the original stereo.
The exterior paint is factory original, with minor wear consistent with age and mileage. It has not undergone full respraying, maintaining the authenticity of the finish. The seller notes some small dings or scratches. The car retains its Dutch registration and remains in solid visual shape for a vehicle now over three decades old.
Inside, the black leather and wood trim present well, showing only light wear. The air conditioning requires a refill, and the day trip odometer is not functioning, though the total mileage is documented and correct. Electrically, the convertible roof operates without issue. The general interior condition supports the car’s low mileage and long-term single ownership.
Mechanically, the car is in good condition. Lighting and indicators function as intended. The car has power steering and disc brakes, making it usable for modern roads despite its vintage.
The Aston Martin Virage was introduced in 1989 as a hand-built grand tourer that would carry the marque into the 1990s. It was developed during a challenging time for the brand, with low production numbers and a high level of customization offered to each buyer. The Volante (convertible) variant, introduced in the early 1990s, further cemented the model’s exclusive status. These cars were assembled at the Newport Pagnell facility, the spiritual home of Aston Martin craftsmanship.
Powered by a 5.3L V8 engine developed in-house, the Virage focused more on effortless torque and refinement than outright speed. The styling, by John Heffernan and Ken Greenley, took cues from earlier Aston Martins but modernized the proportions with a wide stance and distinctive rear profile. Notably, the Virage featured an aluminum body, and the later Volante models benefited from improvements such as revised interiors and mechanical enhancements.
What makes this particular example even more special is its traceable history and participation in the 100-year Aston Martin celebration at Kensington Gardens in 2013. The car is also listed in the “Aston AMV8” book by William Presland and featured on AstonMartins.com, making it a known and documented example within collector circles. Its inclusion in the Aston Martin Owners Club’s registry adds to its heritage value. With just two long-term owners and a documented history, it offers a rare chance to acquire an elegant piece of Aston Martin legacy.
