If a buyer believes that the delivered vehicle does not match the description or the photos shown on the auction page, they must first contact the seller directly. Route 66 Auctions is not an official party in this discussion, but we kindly request both buyer and seller to keep us informed of their communication.
If the buyer and seller are unable to reach a solution together, Route 66 Auctions may act as a mediator to help both parties come to a fair and timely resolution.
Important: Buyer’s duty to inspect
Buyers have a duty to inspect the vehicle. We strongly recommend viewing the vehicle in advance whenever possible.
If the buyer chooses not to inspect the vehicle before purchasing, this may weaken their position in any discussion regarding non-conformity.
In most cases, buyers and sellers resolve the matter amicably without the need for mediation by Route 66 Auctions or legal intervention.
Types of claims involving vehicles
1. Non-conformity
This applies when the vehicle does not match the description, photos, or the reasonable expectations based on the information provided in the auction listing.
Examples include:
- Unreported rust
- Undisclosed damage
- Missing parts
- Technical issues that were not mentioned or do not align with the description
2. Transport damage
If damage occurs during transportation, this falls under the responsibility of the buyer.
In such cases, the buyer must:
- Contact the transport company immediately
- File a damage claim through the transport insurance
- Provide evidence (photos, CMR document, videos, etc.)
Route 66 Auctions can, if requested, mediate between buyer and seller to help reach a fair and efficient solution.
